"SIX: A FOOTBALL COACH'S JOURNEY TO A NATIONAL RECORD"
by Marc Rasmussen
"Six - A Football Coach's Journey to a National Record" is Marc's first book. A historical biography about an amazing man and his amazing teams; it is now available at www.sdshspress.com. Marc will have a feature article published by "The South Dakota Magazine" in the October/November 2011 edition in support of the book. Marc will be a presenter at the South Dakota Festival of Books in Deadwood, SD in early October and he was the guest of honor at the Langford, SD homecoming celebration on September 16th. There he read a letter on behalf of Governor Dennis Daugaard congratulating the record setting Claremont Honkers Six-Man Teams. Marc and a number of the Claremont Honkers were featured in a story on KELO TV on September 16th and Marc conducted a half hour interview on KYNT 1450 radio's Live At Five Show on September 15th.
Marc wrote a feature article in the November/December 2011 issue of The South Dakota Magazine titled Claremont's Glory Days: How a grief-stricken coach and a baseball town made gridiron history in the days of six-man football. It is an exceptional piece that discusses the impact of the six-man game on the State of South Dakota. The focus is clearly on the history of the sport as reported in SoDak Sports in an article published in 1953.
